    The Washington County Board of  Supervisors Tuesday, June 21 approved two 28E agreements, including one it approved twice.  The first. which was a renewal, was to continue with Independent Case Management, Inc for case management to allow Southeast Iowa Case Management to be  Medicaid provider for the Regional Mental Health.  Washington is one of 13 counties service by SICM.  The agreement is valid from July 1, 2016 to June 30,1017.

    Aside from okaying fireworks permits and first reading approval of the county code or ordinances update, the Washington County supervisors Monday mainly attended to fiscal year end business.
    The permits were for the Marion Avenue Baptist Church and for Fred Witt of Washington, all related to Fourth of July events.

    Within 25 minutes Tuesday, the Washington County supervisors approved a fireworks permit, wage raises, an employee longevity schedule and department wage step increases.
    The fireworks application for Kent Dallmeyer was approved and the Marion Avenue Baptist church one tabled to next week. The latter is to find if a road closing is involved.

    Washington County 4-H/FFA are reminded of the July 1 fair entry deadline. Items due are Communications entries, Pride of Iowa entries, “Surprise Design” Flower Arrangement Class Registration, Blue livestock entry cards and livestock stall fees, Fair member entry fees, Pet project records and State Fair livestock entries and fees.     Although several bidders were sought, only DeLong Construction of Washington submitted the lone bid for the Washington County Courthouse west entrance project. The supervisors Tuesday accepted the $45,924 bid after it was noted, it could be less than that.

    Thanks to a newly installed sound system, a first for Washington County supervisors, discussion, debate and decisions could be heard clearly in their meeting Tuesday. The system was used for the first time June 9, drawing approval and thanks from the ones in the back of the room.

    The Washington County Riverboat Foundation (WCRF) new application forms for the fall 2014 grant period are now available on at www.washingtoncountyriverboatfoundation.org. Review guidelines before filing out the application as some procedures have changed.

    By a 3-2 vote Tuesday, the Washington County Board of Supervisors approved a beginning step program for the Washington County Jail personnel that starts at $14 per hour, going to $17.52 by the sixth year. In favor were Bob Yoder, Richard Young and Chairman Steve Davis; opposed were Jack Seward, Jr. and Stan Stoops.

    The deadline for filing nomination papers in the Washington County Auditor’s Office for non-party offices which will appear on the November, 2014 General Election ballot is August 27 ,at 5 p.m.

    It took the Washington County Board of Supervisors 20 minutes Tuesday, July 29,  to issue fireworks permits, approve personnel changes, okay seeking federal funds for an $800,000 bridge, accept $1,450 in donations to the K-9 unit and accept a quarterly report.
